What Are You Longing For?

June 1, 2021 by Heather Hart 9 Comments

Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value. Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value. For your heart will always pursue what you esteem as your treasure.

Matthew 6:19-21 TPT

I’m really good at storing up earthly treasures.

The verses above from Matthew 6 are almost always considered to be about riches and power. But material is defined by Google as “physical objects rather than the mind or spirit”

The material earthly treasure I’ve been coveting is definitely physical.

Praying When it Hurts

In 2019, the CDC put together a National Health Interview Survey, and they found that over 20% of adults suffered from chronic pain. If you look at just the women, it was almost 22%. That means one out of every five people have experienced chronic pain.

But chronic pain isn’t the only kind of pain. Whether you have had a headache, back pain, sunburn, toothache, or kidney stones you know how distracting pain can be. All pain hurts, not just chronic pain.

Chronic Pain & Faith

When you’re in pain, it’s hard to focus. Reading, praying, thinking; anything that requires brainpower is difficult to say the least. And the longer the pain lasts, the more our faith to suffer. Chronic Pain & Lukewarm Faith

Chronic Pain and Lukewarm Faith

Roughly a year after my chronic migraines started, I realized my faith was suffering. I realized I was no longer on fire for Christ, but had become lukewarm.

Don’t get me wrong, I still believed in Jesus with every fiber of my being. I knew He was good. He kept me going on the bad days. But at the same point in time, I didn’t yearn for more of Him.

Chronically Unworthy

December 2, 2019 by Heather Hart Leave a Comment

We were singing Living Hope when it hit me.

I have been suffering from massive migraines for over two years. Chronic migraines. Status migrainous if you want to get technical.

My head hurts all the time, and lately, it’s just been too much. I haven’t been up to doing anything, and that included going to church.

Clinging to Jesus

Clinging to Jesus

By Heather Hart

Reading, praying, and focusing in general is just plain hard when you hurt. Whether it’s your head, your back, your joints, or something else, when we feel miserable, it’s easy to let that awful feeling consume us.
